The importance of having a great bridesmaid

Being chosen as a bridesmaid is an honor, as the bride is asking you to be with her through the most important day of her life. Who can be a bridesmaid? Most often brides choose someone they care for and have known for a very long time, or just simply someone that the bride has a loving connection to. It should be someone close to the bride who is willing to support her. A bridesmaid is there through all of the planning and preparing for the wedding. She can act as advisor, confidante, errand runner and should be ready to do whatever the bride needs her to do. The bride needs to have at least one bridesmaid or maid of honor who she can count on to be organized, reliable, and willing to help with anything.

The role of a bridesmaid often includes the following duties: Throwing, planning and hosting the bridal shower. Helping to see that friends and guests know where the bride is registered for gifts and knowing how to get late gifts to the bride. Giving the bride emotional support, or just lending an ear through the planning and wedding process. Offering advice to the bride on food, decorations, music and other similar items. Holding the bridal bouquet during the ceremony before handing it off to the bride. Helping to plan the rehearsal dinner and make sure all goes well. She may even, with the help of other bridesmaids and friends, plan a bachelorette party for the bride, if one is desired. The role of a bridesmaid may also include being involved in assisting to send out the invitations or recording guests who have responded to the invitations or writing out the name cards for the reception tables.

So, the role of a bridesmaid entails planning the parties, helping with the shopping and other wedding planning, and just being there for the bride. Since planning a wedding is stressful, the role of a bridesmaid is especially important when providing moral and emotional support. The bride will be stretched thin with all the preparations and will need you to cheer her up and help her unwind. She may need you to tie up loose ends and make sure that nothing is forgotten. There are times when she needs an unbiased point of view or a fresh perspective. On the day of the wedding, bridesmaids can assist by arriving early at the church and helping guests. At the wedding reception, you are there by her side in the honored role of a bridesmaid. There are many roles that a great bridesmaid must fill, but the role of being a trusted, reliable, and loyal friend is the one that obviously helped you land the role of bridesmaid in the first place. So, wear your title proudly- you have earned it over the years.
